I’ve been on a quest to find really easy, really fun Halloween activities for my kids (check out our bubbling smoky pumpkin). These scary glowing eyes, #9 on Peggy Wang’s list of 31 Last-Minute Halloween Hacks on Buzzfeed, made the cut. They were amazingly simple to make. Plus, it was hilarious watching my kids – who helped through the entire process and saw all of the materials, etc. – get freaked out at the final result and run screaming into the house.
What You’ll Need
- Glow sticks
- Toilet paper or paper towel rolls (I used paper towel rolls because I got 12 inch glow sticks)
- Scissors
That is it! You can get any color glow sticks that you want, but I like green for the “demon eye” look. If you don’t have a nearby party story you can get glow sticker here (affiliate link).
Use scissors to cut eyes into the paper towel rolls.
They don’t have to look perfect. I recommend making them fairly close together to look more like a set of eyes when they are glowing.
Then, break your glow sticks so they glow.
Insert the glow sticks into the paper towel rolls.
Place them in a tree or bush. You’ll want to make sure that it is in an area that gets pretty dark (not by an automated outdoor light, for example). Voila! Demon Eyes!
Happy Halloween!
