This blog has been out of commission for awhile (more on that in the future) – mostly because I’ve been at a loss on how to give any helpful, useful information because I’ve kind of been falling apart. But one thing that will always be helpful and useful and so, so important is KINDNESS! So please join me in spreading kindness this World Kindness Day!

Happy World Kindness Day!

No matter what is going on in your life, no matter what you are struggling with, you always can be kind. Even if you have nothing else to give, you can give kindness. Today is World Kindness Day, so I thought I would share the story of how some very special people found a way to do just that.

My friend Jackie is a fellow autism mom. Autism comes with many, many challenges, not the least of which being what we parents are supposed to do when our children age out of the school system. Can they get jobs? What will they do all day? How can we support their lives having meaning and purpose?

In 2018, Jackie started Jordyn’s Summer Shirt Project with the goal of teaching Jordyn job skills. Jordyn independently rolls shirts, adds wristbands, and signs thank you cards for the orders. What started as a summer project has grown into an amazing organization run by people who truly live the message they are sharing. Shirts have been sold in all 50 states and Jordyn has been featured on many news outlets.

In addition to spreading kindness, Jackie and Jordyn donate to variety of organizations that involve autism or promote kindness, including initiatives to make schools more sensory friendly and to programs that provide meaningful experiences for individuals with disabilities. I love supporting Jordyn’s summer shirt project and its mission. I shop there often – for gifts and for myself! There is a great selection, shipping is always free, and the quality is excellent (the shirts don’t shrink!). And I love getting the little thank you message that comes with each order.

There are many ways to spread kindness on World Kindness Day and always. Wearing a Be Kind to Everyone shirt is one small way to spread the message of kindness. I always get compliments when I wear my Be Kind shirt (and when I do, I always share Jordyn’s story). I hope you check out their site. Their story is inspirational and a great reminder that there still is good news in the world today.

Please remember – the energy you project is the energy you attract. In short: You get what you give. Always, always choose to give kindness 😊
