Essential Oils for Love
Sandalwood |
We’re all short on time, so we’re just going to start out with the big guns here. Sandalwood essential oil is considered to be the most powerful aphrodisiac in aromatherapy. Its scent is said to increase libido and enhance sexual response. So, you don’t really need to read any more than to this point… |
Ylang Ylang |
Ylang Ylang is another favorite sensual essential oil. It is not only a great aphrodisiac, but it is also believed to enhance euphoria and make experiences deeper and more profound. In Indonesia, newly wedded couples beds are strewn with ylang ylang flowers. It is thought that this will bring a marriage full of love, happiness, and – well, you know… |
Jasmine |
Another potent aphrodisiac, Jasmine essential oil smells ah-mazing! It will also help to calm nerves and relieve stress. Be careful though. Jasmine is considered to enhance fertility. So, if that’s what you are hoping for – yay, there’s an oil! But if my husband reads this I can guarantee all Jasmine in the house will literally be dumped down the drain… |
Geranium |
Like Jasmine, Geranium essential oil has a sweet floral scent that will balance hormones (i.e., calm our “crazy-girl” freakiness) and enhance feelings of love and acceptance. |
Rose |
The rose is a historical symbol and love and devotion, so it is difficult to think of a more romantic oil. Use Rose essential oil to open the heart and focus on desire. Rose is also a great oil if there are any … ahem, bedroom “issues.” And if everything is a-okay in that department, you still can’t go wrong with Rose. Just be aware that if you are using a Rose oil and is pure and of good quality, it is going to be very (like VERY) expensive. But, if you already have some there is no better day than V-Day to use it! |
Clary Sage |
Clary Sage essential oil reduces tension and brings on a sense of emotional calm and (sometimes intense) euphoria. Sounds awesome, right? But, take note if you are planning on wine or other alcohol on Valentine’s Day (I know I am!). Clary Sage is a pretty powerful oil. When used with alcohol, it can bring on some cray-cray hallucinations. So, if that isn’t your thing… |
Patchouli |
Patchouli essential oil is a great mood lifter and awesome for relaxation. It is considered THE scent for attraction. It stimulates the sex glands, increases the libido, and enhances sexual response. Just remember that Patchouli smells like.. well, patchouli. |
