Today is World Autism Awareness Day. As I said in my post yesterday, I could not be more aware of autism. I and families like mine live autism 24/7/365. I explained why I don’t celebrate autism, and why I sometimes dread April (Autism Awareness Month).
But, I love volunteering for Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) – a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to helping families with autism – because TACA helped my own family so much. I love sharing TACA’s message of hope to families in need of support. Families affected by autism face so many struggles; but once they find TACA, they are never alone.
I hate asking for money – always have (since my grade school days going to door-to-door for the school bike-a-thon), but TACA is so very near and dear to my heart that I am honored to participate in the annual Friends & Family campaign. Every year, I am humbled by the kindness and generosity of friends, family, and strangers and by the outpouring of love and support for our family, our son Christopher, and families affected by autism.
Please watch and share our video. Please spread TACA’s mission to families in need. And, if you are able, please support our campaign.
Thank you so much for your love and support. My family and I are deeply grateful.
